What Is WilmingtoNColor?

WilmingtoNColor®

It’s Not Just a Tour. It’s a Time Machine™.

WilmingtoNColor is a nationally recognized, Black-owned cultural storytelling company redefining how people experience history, place, and community across North Carolina.

Founded in Wilmington, NC, WilmingtoNColor transforms overlooked and untold Black history into immersive, cinematic, and educational experiences that connect the past, present, and future—all while supporting local businesses, empowering communities, and building pathways for the next generation of storytellers.

🎟️ Experience the Tours

Our signature 90-minute heritage shuttle tour is a moving museum experience that blends archival visuals, audio storytelling, historic sites, and cultural context to tell Wilmington’s Black history—most notably the 1898 Coup and Massacre—alongside stories of resilience, entrepreneurship, faith, and progress.

We also offer Coastal Carolina Beach History Capsules, including:

  • Shell Island (Wrightsville Beach) – the story of a thriving 1920s Black resort erased by segregation and development

  • Seabreeze (Carolina Beach) – North Carolina’s historic Black beach, still owned by the Freeman family, where history is told directly on ancestral land

These experiences are ideal for

Meet The Founder

Cedric Harrison

This business venture was developed based on success of the coloring/activity book initiative - Wilmington In Color. The book sold over 10,000 copies worldwide to various organizations including: educational institutions, churches, after school programs and individual consumers.

Cedric Harrison, a Wilmington native, is the founder of both Support the Port and wilmingtoNColor. Harrison has dedicated his professional career to supporting and creating opportunities for economic growth and advancement for African Americans in the Wilmington area. He is a local historian (in his own right) and passionate about the rich history of African Americans in Wilmington, NC.

Due to his impactful efforts and work, Harrison has earned several accolades and much recognition in this space. Most recently, Harrison was a recipient of the 40 under 40 award presented by StarNews meds and Wilmington Chamber of Commerce - an award which recognizes professionals who are high performers in their field.

In 2019, Harrison was selected out of over 400 applicants to be part of the inaugural cohort of the All for NC Fellows. Since the fellowship, Harrison has seized the opportunity to continue his journey of bringing transformational change to his local community.

Cedric Harrison also had the opportunity to deliver his first TEDx talk in 2019 at the TEDx Airlie event in Wilmington, NC. His speech, Bridging the Racial Gap of Socio-Economics, provided viewers with a compelling history lesson on Wilmington in conversation with his personal experiences and journey.
