Saltwater Stories - Seabreeze

Join WilmingtoNColor for a special edition of our Saltwater Stories series centered on Seabreeze, the historic Black beach community that thrived during segregation as a place where Black families could gather, celebrate, build businesses, and experience freedom along the Carolina coast.

What makes this experience truly special is that the story will be told by Sister Elise, a direct descendant of the historic Freeman family , a family that still owns a piece of Seabreeze land to this very day. Through personal memories, family history, and generational storytelling, guests will hear firsthand what it meant to grow up connected to one of the most important Black beach communities in the South.

Sister Elise also serves as the official guide for WilmingtoNColor’s Seabreeze historical experiences, helping preserve and share the living legacy of the community for future generations.

This is more than a history lesson.
It’s a chance to sit with living history. Tickets are $75 per person and available here or in the store section

Guests can expect:
• Powerful storytelling and local history
• Untold stories of Seabreeze and Freeman Beach
• Reflections on Black land ownership and legacy
• Community conversation and cultural connection
• An immersive WilmingtoNColor experience rooted in truth, memory, and resilience
